Windlebrook DFAS

Young Arts Projects 2011

As one of its objectives NADFAS aims to inspire young people with lasting enthusiasm for the arts, and an awareness of our arts heritage and its conservation. To achieve this NADFAS encourages member societies to promote high quality visual arts activities for young people. NADFAS groups are supported in this work by an experienced Area team member.

Members from Windlebrook DFAS are currently running a project with a local primary school to create a sundial for their playground. Every child in the school has made and decorated a tile to be included in the sundial. These tiles are awaiting the final glazing and firing which Windlebrook Young Arts group will assist with. It is hoped that the sundial will be built in the playground in the New Year. The picture shows the artist, Angie Sayer with some of the pupils.

Windlebrook is continuing to assist in the supply of art materials to Footsteps and the Sam Bearel hospice which offers counselling and support to children affected by bereavement.

The project to conserve the Mother’s Union banner for an Finchampstead Church has been completed. The resulting work is very much appreciated by the members of the church who raised some funds to assist with the future work of the textile conservation team.
